A Hope for Surviving Cancer — Mesothelioma: Heather’s Story

A Hope for Surviving Cancer -- Mesothelioma: Heather's StoryHeather Von St. James was a 36 year old woman with a 3 month old daughter when she was dealt a crushing blow. She had cancer.

Pleural mesothelioma was her official diagnosis.

A fast-moving cancer of the chest, often associated with prolonged asbestos exposure, it is often fatal within a year.

Heather heroically beat this diagnosis and has been cancer-free since 2006.

Her husband contacted me and I was so inspired by her beautiful story that I knew I had to share it. She now spends her time spreading encouraging and awareness for those battling difficult and life-altering situations and illnesses.

I also hope that it inspires you to seek holistic treatment to help heal from this disease that now touches almost half of the population.

I have lost 3 grandparents to deaths directly caused by conventional medical cancer treatments – all after remission – and am not an advocate of them. The devastation that it wreaked and the raw loss in my life was one of the main catalysts to me pursuing a career in holistic healing.

Liver Cleansing with Castor Oil Packs: My Experience

Liver Cleansing with Castor Oil Packs: My Experience

Last week I began using castor oil packs for liver congestion, and I really can’t believe how well they work.

Since we began the Autoimmune Paleo Protocol a couple of weeks ago, I’ve seen my energy bounce back, my skin start to clear up again, and I finally feel back on track with healing.

I had been in survival mode since July – the highly-stressful midterm weekend – and our eating habits were atrocious. Milk, wheat, and chocolates were all weekly indulgences again. It wasn’t pretty.

With the addition of castor oil packs over the last week, my symptoms are almost gone again.

How to Use Essential Oils for Better Digestion

Note from Jennifer: Today, we have a guest post from Becky Webb, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, certified herbalist, and amazing doula who is skilled in working with essential oils. We met through our NTP course earlier this year and have been BFFs ever since!

I asked her to pop over to help you learn more about another complementary holistic therapy.

In my home, we are absolutely addicted to the healing power of essential oils. There are essential oils that can aid any health struggle. These potent plant extracts can be very helpful alongside a Nutritional Therapy protocol to promote faster healing.

These 9 Essential Oils are helpful in healing the digestive tract and can complement any digestive healing protocol:

5 Ways to Naturally Treat a Yeast Infection

5 Ways to Naturally Treat a Yeast Infection

Early in life, I learned that yeast infections were a part of womanhood. Something that many women get on a regular basis and required treatment either by prescription or a white box from the drug store.

…a horribly embarrassing white box that contains a turkey baster mess of epic proportions.

Who came up with that idea?

Yeast infections of any kind are not normal, expected, or inevitable, and are completely preventable. Let me tell you why.

Why We Get Yeast Infections

Chronic yeast infections are caused by imbalances within our bodies.

Our skin’s health is directly affected by liver function and gut health, especially the microbes in the GI tract. The GI tract requires a wide diversity of microbes to protect us from overgrowths of pathogenic bacteria, yeast, and parasites.

Did you know that we carry an estimated 3 pounds of microbes just in our digestive tract? Microbial cells outnumber our cells by 10 to 1 and number in the trillions. (source)

A Simple Way to Test for Adrenal Fatigue – At Home!

A Simple Way to Test for Adrenal Fatigue - At Home!

Did you know that there’s a quick and easy test you can do at home to determine adrenal fatigue?

As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, this is one of the tools I use to test adrenal function.

A quick disclaimer before we start: In order to properly diagnose any condition, please see a qualified medical practitioner (preferably by a holistic practitioner familiar with adrenal fatigue).

This simple test can be done with a small flashlight that has a pinpoint focus or penlight, a mirror, darkened room, and your eyeballs.
