The Food Reaction from HELL and How I Survived It

Disclaimer: This isn’t a reaction to a classic food allergy but a latent food allergy, and it does not involve anaphylactic reactions.

As many of you know by now, I am more human than human…great, White Zombie’s stuck in my head now. I still have food cravings, slip ups, cheat sessions, and emotional ties to food that keep me off and on the slippery slope of a full healing diet.

Each and every day takes me closer to shedding foods that make me sick, bloated, cause inflammation, irritability, fatigue, and the other lovely reactions that go with my food allergies.

But I’m not quite there yet.

My husband had talked about craving cereal for about 2 weeks when I decided to splurge and have him stop by the store for some. Unbeknownst to me, there was whole wheat in that cereal.

Now I can eat white flour until doomsday and not have a serious reaction, but wheat bran cripples me. I hadn’t eaten any since I got the results from my allergy test.

The Reaction

I started out with some digestive complaints. More of a ‘hmmmmm, something’s not right here’. That’s extremely rare for me so it was noticeable.

Within a couple of hours, I became irritable with all the things and went to sleep in the quiet, non-occupied guest room with relief.

For the next 2 days, I essentially stayed to myself and watched TV on my laptop or attempted to work (quite unsuccessfully). I could tell I was reacting to something but I had no idea what…and I craved another bowl of cereal.

Inhibitions down = a second bowl of cereal with no idea that it was about to wreak havoc in the form of days of full on space case and brain fog.

Thankfully, thankfully, thankfully I have done much healing over the last couple of years and have a full arsenal of remedies at my disposal. I can’t believe that my only major symptoms were noise sensitivity, irritability, dark under eye circles, and brain fog.

This has been brain fog the likes of which nobody should ever see. I’m still having trouble with dyslexia and putting my words together.

The Remedy

With an allergic reaction, the only things you can do are to support the immune system, rest, assist with detox, and eat nutrient-dense foods full of healthy fats, proteins, and antioxidants.

Immune Support —
