Customized Real Food Meal Plans

I’m changing up my format a bit and trying to be a little more cohesive – even with the fuzzy die off brain I’ve acquired -, since I may be up to two readers(!) after linking to Baden’s wonderful GAPS blog. She’s a gem for writing a book and keeping a blog to navigate this foreign world we call the GAPS diet.

morning (it’s nice and cloudy to complement a day of eating soup) – Well, today starting out miserably but took a much needed turn for the better. I came down to a dirty dishwasher, an extra load of laundry since I didn’t do yesterday’s load (I wash at least one load a day), and the 2 chickens and broth that I made last night still sitting on the stove. Grr.

I put the chicken back in the broth and reboiled it for an hour. Then, I made our first soup of the day and distracted Katie while it was cooking, quickly started a load of laundry and ran the dishwasher, and cleaned up a bit as I was detoxing yesterday from all the junk I ate and left some clutter out.  I oil pulled with coconut oil while I was tidying and then we ate. Quite a productive morning all in all.

We’ve been sipping ginger tea all morning. I hope it will help with the problem I seem to have digesting fat (can’t eat too much of it or I get super nauseous). It’s a very nice change of flavor when your diet doesn’t vary much. I may make some tummy tea later if we get tired of ginger.

2:30 pm I have all sorts of crazy nervous energy and I’m a bit short-tempered.

7:10 pm I feel great! Katie is content, calm, patient, and happy. What a change from our first go of intro.

7:30 pm headache. hmm. maybe the sweet from the squash and the honey? I’m definitely craving something sweet now but not overwhelmingly so. I think I’ll wrap it up for the day. I hope my novella updates aren’t turning anyone off from reading. Note to self: talk less 🙂

First meal: Chicken broth with a slice of turnip, a carrot, some frozen broccoli, sea salt, boiled chicken meat and skin simmered for 1/2 an hour and then blended with a stick blender. Katie reacts to onion, garlic and pepper, plus I don’t agree with pepper for the beginning stages of belly healing. I pulled some of the veggies out for Katie’s second soup, so she didn’t have the ‘cream’ soup twice with her need for variety. I had trouble with mine so only had a few bites and put in in the fridge for later. The ‘creamy’ taste of the blended skin and soft bits doesn’t have the great mouth feel that other people seem to enjoy. I like texture. Crunchy would be nice. Even some almond butter and honey. Argh! Shut up Jennifer.

Second meal: I had more of my soup from this morning with some boiled chicken. I kinda choked it down but managed to finish it and I’m full after only about a half cup. I added a bit of the cream soup to Katie’s veggie soup. She wasn’t too fond of it so is alternating it with cut up boiled chicken. No whining this morning about the food yet like last time on intro.

A mug of chicken broth with sea salt using one of Katie’s new glass straws, and a big glass of water for me during nap time. I’ve been drinking one the last few days when I need some energy but am not hungry and it usually is enough for at least an hour.

A 3 HOUR NAP! I love that rarest of occasion. Munchkin woke up and needed me to put her back to sleep, so I got to sleep for the last hour also. Bliss.

Third meal: boiled chicken & a mug of broth

Fourth meal (dinner): mugs of broth, boiled butternut squash in broth & boiled chicken -added about 1/2 teaspoon of raw honey to my squash to counteract all of the savory flavors that were starting to overwhelm me.
