The GAPS outing was a success!
Katie and I setting out our picnic lunch

Mother’s Day was a beautiful day filled with fun, fresh air, sunshine, and wonderful friends. Hands down, my favorite Mother’s Day ever. I’d love to start planning outings for all our special days.

My pretty little peanut felt well enough to not have it affect her day, and I felt glorious. That’s the reason I’m committed to sticking with the GAPS protocol. Those days that give me a glimpse of what the rest of my life will be like. LIVING instead of growing old before my time. And the end of heavy detoxing!!! Oh GAPSters, won’t that be great?
The day of semi-fasting (two meals instead of my normal six) and drinking homemade electrolyte drinks restored me. Though my muscles were a little trembly from lack of food, it didn’t overshadow how wonderful I felt. After the horrid week that is week four, I could have wept with gratitude to not have that dragging, exhausted feeling anymore. I started the day with an apple cider vinegar detox bath. I have been having a horrible, horrible time trying to get my hair clean for about a week. It smelled very dirty and felt kind of sticky – instead of just oily when I haven’t showered -. I just love sharing these details. It helps a lot when everyone shares their problems as well as successes, so share away I will! Not even time out in the sun and fresh air rid me of it. I was flummoxed and not a little embarrassed. So I tried the vinegar bath to see if it would cut through whatever was stuck to my hair that no soap, shampoo, or shower gel would get out. It did help a bit, and, combined with two scrubbings with Dr. Bronner’s soap, my hair was almost back to normal. Could it be heavy metals and other junk that is being released from my brain? My best guess is yes. Since I’m so much more clear-headed that a few weeks ago, my moods aren’t so volatile (when I’m not in a healing crisis anyway), and my mind doesn’t feel so dull, it seems quite plausible. Creepy huh?
Happy belated Mother’s Day to all the mamas!
