i am not a hypochondriac

I am not sick to avoid cleaning. I don’t stay in bed because I’m lazy. Yes, I am constantly tired.

 hypochondria: extreme depression of mind or spirits often centered on imaginary physical ailments.

I am not a hypochondriac.

I want to be well. I want to fill my days with activities. I want to play with my daughter without taking a break.

I no longer want her to say “it’s okay mommy, I’ll take care of you.”

I am not a hypochondriac.


I am not a hypochondriac…and I’ll PROVE it.  


In the two years that we have been on this healing journey, I have improved significantly. You can read about my story here and some of the symptoms I have reversed in a recent post here.

I have also been sharing a lot about my training as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (more on that in the symptom reversal post mentioned above). This has been the second most game-changing thing that I have done to date. Having Miss Katie was the first (read her story here).

I am learning to diagnose all the conditions that I “never had”.

This chart is one of the ways I assess which client issues are a priority. Even with all of my healing, you can see that almost all of my symptoms show as ‘high priority’ (as noted by the headings on the left side column).

We’ll explore the healing methods and protocol that I will be using in upcoming posts, but here’s what I’m working on now.

My Body Systems Don’t Function Correctly

All of my ‘random’ and ‘strange’ symptoms like low body temperature, dizziness upon standing, and swollen fingers before bed are related to my body not functioning properly. Conventional doctors can run battery after battery of tests and call me normal. I know better.

Nutritional Therapy Practitioners generally work from ‘north to south’ and start with digestion.

As Hippocrates so wisely stated, all diseases do begin in the gut.

I have to first make sure each step in the digestive process is working correctly before treating the next.

Currently, my focus is:

  • staying hydrated
  • chewing my food thoroughly to break it down and start the production of the amylase (digestive enzyme that breaks down starch)
  • increase the acidic environment in my stomach to make up for low stomach acid production

It may seem oversimplified, but you have to step back and start at the beginning. There is no healing if the foundation doesn’t function properly.

YOU Are Not a Hypochondriac

Know that there is a wide community of people who understand what you are going through, who struggle daily with the simplest tasks, and feel frustrated and alone.

Know that you are not alone and it’s not all in your head.
